Editions! What for? How? And how many?

The status quo of historical “editions” in Switzerland in the Digital Age

The contemporary discourse on „Digital Humanities“ opens up new perspectives and methodologies for the academic discipline “History” and shows that the indexing and publication of sources in the Digital Age has to expose itself to the new opportunities and challenges. The editions of historic sources since the 19th century have played a core role in scientifying History as an academic discipline. Aim of the conference is to examine the status quo of editions of historic sources in Switzerland and sound out innovation potential and possibilities for edition projects in the 21st century.
